喘息治療薬の開発を加速させる試薬
喘息は気道の免疫バランスの乱れを起こし、様々な症状を引き起こす慢性炎症性疾患です。Lancet誌によると、世界中で約3億3900万人が喘息に罹患しているという。吸入型コルチコステロイドやβ-agonistといった従来の治療法は症状を緩和しますが、根本的な病態メカニズムに対処し、病状の経過を変えたることはできません。エンドタイプに基づく分類（Th2型高値 vs. Th2型低値/非Th2型）は、喘息管理に革命をもたらしました。
- Th2型炎症：好酸球、TSLP、IgE、IL-4/IL-13、IL-5 によって引き起こされます。Th2 型炎症は患者の 50%～70% に影響を及ぼし、標的療法は現在臨床的に成熟に達しています。
- 非Th2型炎症：30% ～ 50% を占める非 Th2 型炎症には、好中球、IL-6、IL-17 などのメカニズムが関与しています。
